And even though some of these institutes mentioned above (e.g. LSE) do not exercise degree conferring power just as the HKIEd does, they are highly reputable in their own right. So technically speaking, LSE is at a lower status compared to HKIEd because the degrees are conferred by the University of London rather than LSE itself, but no one will ever question its academic standing only because LSE does not confer degree and is not called 'university'.
So why on earth is HKIEd complaining it does not have the magic word in the title when it can already confer degrees upon its own graduates??
