it depends on the graphic card, if the graphic card support FULL HD or above, you will be able to have a FULL HD or above resolution output to the screen you would like to view. But you gotta make sure you have a FULL HD screen if you want to view as FULL HD.

I'm using lenovo sl500 with hdmi output to plasma watch HD movie, not bad ...
