| Dear Colleagues and Students, | | | | Incident at the student residence |
We regret to inform you that at 5.25pm this afternoon (16th October 2008) a year three mainland undergraduate student of City University of Hong Kong fell from a residents' hall and was certified dead on arrival at the hospital.
The whole City University community is deeply shocked and saddened by this incident. The university is in the process of informing the student's parents and we are working closely with the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR who are assisting with arrangements for the student's parents to come to Hong Kong.
City University's Critical Incident Management Team is now handling the situation and all student residents are being taken care of by Resident Masters and counselors from Student Development Services.
The incident is currently under police investigation.

我 們 痛 心 地 告 訴 大 家 ， 今 天 下 午 （ 2008年 10月 16日 ） 約 5時 25分 ， 香 港 城 市 大 學 （ 城 大 ） 宿 舍 發 生 學 生 墮 樓 事 件 ， 墮 樓 人 士 送 院 後 證 實 死 亡 。 該 同 學 為 一 名 三 年 級 內 地 生 。
校 方 對 事 件 深 感 痛 心 ， 應 變 小 組 正 處 理 有 關 事 件 ， 並 派 出 輔 導 員 向 所 有 留 宿 學 生 作 輔 導 及 為 有 需 要 的 其 他 同 學 作 心 理 輔 導 。 校 方 正 與 中 央 人 民 政 府 駐 香 港 特 別 行 政 區 聯 絡 辦 公 室 緊 密 合 作 ， 協 助 安 排 學 生 家 長 來 香 港 事 宜 。
本 事 件 警 方 目 前 正 調 查 處 理 中 。
