< Free clinic in Laem Chabang >

After their first free clinic last August, Tzu Chi volunteers and TIMA members in Thailand returned to the Port of Laem Chabang to treat of customs officers and nearby villagers. The clinic offered treatment in ophthalmology, dentistry and internal medicine, serving in total 599 patients.

< Second free clinic in Laem Chabang >

For patients too poor to see a doctor, this is a long-awaited moment. The first free clinic here, held half a year ago, heralded the beginning of Tzu Chi volunteers' relationship with Laem Chabang Township. On their second visit, more medical professionals have joined the ranks and this time, dentistry is also added to the list of medical services.

As this free clinic happens to coincide with Valentine's Day, Tzu Chi volunteers have prepared flowers for the medical staff, to thank them for their contribution.

< Turning personal love to great love >

One of the doctor couples are newly weds, who cancelled their honeymoon trip to take part in this free clinic.

Doctor, Chaniya:We only got married recently, and were planning to go on a honeymoon, but then we heard about Tzu Chi's free clinic and thought we should participate in it first. We can have our honeymoon later; that's why we cancelled our previous plans.

< Concerted love contribute to success >

The concerted love of these medical professionals is what gives the free clinic its grand success, providing relief for 599 patients from chronic illnesses. One 64-year-old grandmother has had discomfort in her eyes for many years. Upon discovering Tzu Chi's free clinic, she traveled 700 kilometers from Northern Thailand to have her eyes treated.

< Alleviating pain for needy villagers >

Senior patient's daughter, Kanung:After the diagnosis the doctors immediately set a date for her cataract surgery. We are really grateful because there is finally hope. Knowing my mother's agony will soon be alleviated, I am extremely grateful.

Apart from treating illnesses, Tzu Chi volunteers also help the patients wind down their anxiety and fear, as they await their diagnoses.
