請問有無econ高手解答!

1.
Suppose you are considering going to the movies, and you place a $12 value on your anticipated enjoyment of the movie. The ticket price is $6 and you would be giving up two hours of work, where you earn $5 per hour. You would go to
(1)___
(work, movies), because the opportunity cost of the (2)_____(work, movies)exceeds the expected benefit.

2.
Metro North Railway is trying to decide whether or not to run an additional train into New York City from New Haven, Connecticut at 8:15 a.m. The total cost of running trains between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. is $45,000 and the expected revenues on any given day are $100,000 during this time period. The cost of running the additional train is $4,000 and it is expected that revenues will rise to $103,500. Metro North should(3)(run, not run)because the (4) ___is greater than the _(5)____(marginal revenue, marginal cost)

For the question 1. The answer should be (1) work, (2) movie; because the oppt. cost for watching the movie is $4, but the oppt. cost of going to work is $2 only. So the rational choice in this case, should choose to work instead of watching movie.

For the question 2. The answer should be not to run the additional train, since the marginal cost is greater than the marginal revenue. (Marginal cost of runing the additional train is $4,000), (Marginal revenue of running the additional train is $3,500). Thus, in this case, running the additional train to New Haven is ($500) each. So I would prefer not to run the additional train.

The above case is not difficult if the English is good enough to understand the question.

($500) means -$500 in the sense of accounting!

Good Luck ! and good day!
